What are psyllium husks actually?

Psyllium husks come from the Plantago ovata plant, which is mainly cultivated in India. It is the outer shell of the seeds - this contains a particularly large amount of soluble fiber and has an exceptionally high swelling capacity.

What effect do psyllium husks have on digestion?

Psyllium husks bind large amounts of water in the digestive tract and swell up. As a result, they gently stimulate intestinal activity, support natural digestion and can naturally relieve constipation and irritable bowel syndrome. At the same time, they promote healthy intestinal flora.

How do I take psyllium husks correctly?

Simply stir 1-2 teaspoons (approx. 5 g) of psyllium husks into a large glass of water, juice or smoothie, leave to stand briefly and drink immediately. Afterwards, please drink an additional large glass of water so that the swelling agents can work optimally in the gastrointestinal tract.

Do I have to pay attention to anything when taking it?

Yes - sufficient liquid is crucial! Psyllium husks should never be taken dry. Without enough water, constipation or an unpleasant feeling of fullness can occur.

How often can I use psyllium husks?

You can take psyllium husks daily - either as a cure or permanently. The daily intake should be around 5-10 g per day (1-2 teaspoons), or more if necessary - always depending on your tolerance and fluid intake.

Are psyllium husks suitable for slimming or fasting?

Yes, because psyllium husks provide a long-lasting feeling of satiety without having a major impact on blood sugar levels. They are ideal for supporting diets, intermittent fasting or low-carb/keto diets.

Can I also use psyllium husks for baking?
